Color Black

Is The Color Black On The Ski Slopes Cool Or Tacky?
If you have decided to finally do the sensible thing and invest in a ski helmet to protect your brain, then you are to be congratulated. If you are like most of us, you probably spent a lot of time looking at helmets before you bought one. It was not an easy decision, was it?
You probably gave some thought to price and quality. Though even the cheapest protective headgear must pass certain standards tests, there is still a big difference in prices and features. The practical side of you wanted to get the best quality for the best price.
Be honest, though. You probably spent more time thinking about how your headgear was going to look on the slopes than you did thinking about its price or safety features. Sure, you appreciated the aerodynamic features of those expensive helmets, but were probably tempted to buy one more because of how cool it looked.
With those decisions out of the way, you turned your attention to the color of your helmet. You knew the color had nothing to do with how well the helmet worked, but that did not stop you from spending at least as much time thinking about color as you spent thinking about the other stuff.
You probably imagined a lot of reactions that the color of your helmet would evoke. Red might look too flashy, gun metal grey wouldn't look flashy enough. Then you wondered if it was going to clash with the rest of your ski outfit. You probably even wondered whether or not it was going to match that black sport watch you always wear.
In the end, the one you came back to again and again was the black helmet. The only thing that held you back was its color. You identify black with Darth Vader and the Gothic look and neither of those suits your personality. Still it looks so very cool!
If you like the black one, but do not identify with the gothic look, do not worry! As long as you do not wear all black, you'll be alright. Choose a white or colored parka and white or colored ski pants and they will be more predominant than your headgear. You can have boots that match the color of your headgear, but everything else in between should be another color.
Black can be very cool if you use it right. The mistake people make is when they choose a favorite color and wear it exclusively. That is almost always a tacky looking choice for the slopes or anyplace else. Sometimes all white can look really good, but even that should be avoided on the snow unless you are employed as a Ninja assassin! If you get lost and they send out a search party, they will have a very hard time spotting you if you wear all white. For the sake of safety, choose a color that contrasts with the snow.
